Dashboards built around a business question

Both projects use the same Boston tech and fintech dataset: 60 companies, 28 lead investors and 197 deals from 2010 to 2026. Each one asks a different question and uses a different tool.

Follow the Money

Question. When did capital peak, which sectors attract it, and which investors write the cheques that matter?

Method. Star schema flattened for Tableau, with a field that splits funding rounds from M&A exits, a stage order and valuation step ups.

Separating funding from exits changes the story. New funding peaked in 2024, not 2021, and VCs led 70% of deals but only 29% of the dollars.

From First Cheque to Exit

Question. What actually predicts a successful exit: the sector, the founding year, or the lead investor?

Method. Power Query, a star schema with two one to many relationships, and DAX measures for exit rate, exit multiple and investor hit rate.

About one in five companies exits, at a median 4.5x the capital raised. Sector and lead investor both make a large difference.
